Students wishing to enter the university as a major in the Department of Theatre & Dance must be accepted into both the university via an academic application, and the major via audition, interview, or application. Information on how to apply to the university can be found here.
For acceptance into the Dance (BA & BFA), Music Theatre, and the Theatre BFA (Performance and Design/Technology concentrations) you must audition or interview prior to matriculation at UB. Please see our pages on Auditions and Interviews for more information. For questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Acceptance into the BA Theatre program does not require an audition or interview.
Currently Enrolled UB Students
Currently enrolled UB students with a minimum 2.5 GPA are eligible to apply to the Department of Theatre & Dance’s B.A. Theatre program. Current freshman are eligible to audition for the Dance BA, Music Theater BFA, or Theatre Performance BFA in their first year, however please contact Katie Mallinson, Academic Manager, to discuss curriculum and progress toward your degree. Please note that, due to the nature of the program and the credit requirements, entering the program after your Freshman year may require additional time to degree completion.
Students looking to transfer to UB’s Department of Theatre & Dance must apply and be accepted by the university, and if interested in our Dance program or one of our BFA programs, must either audition or interview. Transfer courses will be evaluated for application to the major. If transfer courses are not already articulated by the university (as distinguished by the Transfer website), they must be reviewed by the faculty for application to the major. Syllabi for all courses you are looking to transfer are required for consideration.
All graduate applications are submitted through our online portal; the application can be found here.
More information on individual application requirements can be found below. Information on Graduate Study and the overall admission requirements can be found by visiting UB’s Graduate School page.
