Bella Poynton

BELLA POYNTON is a playwright, dramaturg, and theater artist from Buffalo, NY.  Her plays have been produced and developed at the Great Plains Theater Conference, Panndora Productions, The Barrow Group, Lookingglass Theatre, Stageworks Theatre, The Science Fiction Theater Company, the Pittsburgh New Play Festival, Otherworld Theatre, Quantum Dragon Theatre Company, Road Less Traveled Productions and The Anteaus Company. She has been a finalist for the Sam French Off-Off Broadway Festival, the Heideman award, the Jane Chambers award, and the Bloomington Playwrights Project. Her play Speed of Light received an honorable mention on the 2015 Kilroys List of Notable Plays by female playwrights. Bella is a Regional Playwriting Resident at Road Less Traveled Productions, and Playwright in Residence at Otherworld Theatre.  She holds a BFA in Acting from Boston University, an MFA in Playwriting from the University of Iowa, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Theatre and Performance at the University at Buffalo. Her areas of interest include science fiction in the theatre–specifically representations of robots and AI on stage, mixed reality performance, hauntology, and playwriting.
