Eero Laine is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre. He holds an MA from New York University’s Gallatin School and a PhD from The Graduate Center of the City University of New York, where he was a member of the Theatre Program and the Film Studies Certificate Program. His recent research engages the often peculiar performance form of professional wrestling to examine issues of labor, commercial theatre, and the financial and global influence of live, popular entertainment. His work has been published in Performance Research, Theatre Journal, Western European Stages, and Contemporary Theatre Review’s Interventions. He has also contributed to a number of edited volumes on the topics of US history and athletics, the economics of media, and contemporary philosophy. He is one of the co-editors of Lateral, which is the peer-reviewed, open-access journal of the Cultural Studies Association. He is also co-editing a volume entitled Performance and Professional Wrestling, which is under contract with Routledge and due out in 2016. Eero serves in elected and appointed positions for the American Society for Theatre Research, the Association for Theatre in Higher Education, the Cultural Studies Association, and Performance Studies International.
