Clinical Associate Professor Jeanne Palmer-Fornarola, MA Humanities (SUNY Buffalo), serves as Director of the BA and BFA programs in Dance, has expertise in ballet and dance history, dance pedagogy and dance-making. With her permanent certificate in Dance K-12, she heads up the dance education curriculum, getting students out into the Buffalo schools and teaching them how to devise dance curriculum. She is the director of the UB dance outreach program, Bridging Communities Through Dance, which brings the dance experience to children in the Buffalo City Schools. Other initiatives include the UB/LD partnership that links the UB Dance program with LehrerDance, Buffalo’s professional dance company. Palmer-Fornarola’s research explores the cognitive benefits of creative movement and dance and their significance in K-12 curriculum, and has been published in the Journal of Dance Education, Dance Studio Life, and Dance Teacher/Spirit. She serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for New York State Dance Educator Association, the state affiliate of the National Dance Educators Organization. She is the lead faculty for an Alumni dance concert & master class weekend, Back to Buffalo, that connects dance students with professional alumni working in the field.
