Tatyana Wilds is a theatre designer and multimedia artist. She grew up in Kazakhstan and studied fine art in Russia, earning a BA and MFA from Kuban State University (Russia). Also, she earned a BFA from Washburn University (USA). Along with spending one semester studying Lighting Design and Technology at Rose Bruford College, London, United Kingdom, Tatyana completed her MFA in Theatre Design at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. Before moving to Buffalo, Tatyana taught at the University of Kansas and Alfred University, Alfred, NY.
Tatyana is enjoying collaborative work and designing for dance concerts, theatre productions, and art projects. She designed costumes, scenery, lights, and projections for various theatre and performance venues in Kansas and Upstate NY. In all of her designs, she says, “I am telling stories using multiple computer programs as well as visual art techniques.” She brings her background as an illustrator, visual artist, and art educator to her work.
Tatyana is a member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology. Her research interests are Digital Scenography and Globalization. At the Prague Quadrennial 2015, Tatyana presented on the topic of her research. She enjoys teaching and sharing her multiple artistic experiences with students.
