UB TH&D Participates in Lumagination 2019
For a third year in a row, the Department of Theatre and Dance Design and Technology Area has contributed to Lumagination 2019, a light and sound show at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. This year, UB Design/Tech has provided the designs for House 4 – Cacti and Succulents. The Theme is “Magic in the Air” and House 4 designs are inspired by wind. The research in site specific design was coordinated by Professor of Scenography Lynne Koscielniak and features student-designed illuminated objects including a wind gust light box, an automated pinwheel, a winged-dragon, a cactus catching windblown pages, and an expansive sound wave inspired by Phil Collins “In the Air Tonight.”
The Department’s Zodiaque Dance Company, under the direction of choreographer/MFA Dance cohort member Mary Schnepf, will perform throughout the gardens on Feb. 20, 2019 during the CAS Alumni Night.
Lumagination 2019 opens on January 25, 2019, House 4 designs will be ongoing throughout all Lumagination events. Visit the website for all dates and times. Student participants include Hannah S. Wolland, Steven Zehler, Hannah Mackey, Matvey Kitchen, Jake Nowak, Nicholas Taboni. Faculty participants include Prof. Lynne Koscielniak, Eric Burlingame, Rick Haug, Cindy Darling, and Donna Massimo.
