UBTalks: “In The Books: Libraries and Literature Changing Lives”

Dec 1st, 2017, 2:30 PM
Buffalo & Erie County Library
1 Lafayette Square, Buffalo, NY

How does literature, and how do libraries, impact and influence the people we are? In our lives, certain formative moments have big impacts on who and what we become; for some those moments are innately linked to books and literature. Public libraries are sacred cultural spaces, the backdrop and catalyst for these moments.

Please join us for a talk series in which we explore these moments and how they have made a difference in the lives of five students from the University at Buffalo. Through a semester-long course in public speaking (entitled “UBTalks”), these students have honed their abilities to craft and deliver powerful speeches that move and shape audiences.

This event will take place on December 1st at the Ring of Knowledge space at the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library 1 Lafayette Square Buffalo, NY. Talks will begin promptly at 2:30. The event is free and open to all members of the public
